One of the most anticipated announcements in the 2014 recruiting class has finally arrived.

St. Paul’s 4-star linebacker Tre’ Williams has chosen to commit to Auburn over Alabama and USC.

It was originally believed that Williams would wait until the 2013 regular season to make his announcement, but like his teammate/fellow Auburn-commit Josh Casher, he wanted to get the pressure of deciding out of the way.

Williams credited both Alabama and USC as great programs, but said that Auburn was the best option for him.

Some would suggest that the decision came down to either Alabama or Auburn, but USC was just as much in the mix.

Former Mobile-star/Auburn assistant coach Dameyune Craig should be credited with being able to land one of the nation’s top linebacker recruits for the 2014 class, which marks the second 4-star linebacker from the Mobile-area to commit to Auburn this offseason.

Auburn now has three 4-star commits from the Mobile-area this offseason in Vigor Linebacker Deshaun Davis, St. Paul’s Offensive Lineman Josh Casher, and now Williams.

St. Paul’s four-star linebacker Tre’ Williams is set to announce where he’ll play his college football on Wednesday.

He has his top five narrowed down to Alabama, Auburn, USC, Ole Miss, and Florida.

Williams is arguably the top prospect in the Mobile-area and will be the third St. Paul’s star to commit, following Zavier Carmichael and Josh Casher.

Alabama, Auburn, and USC could be considered as the top three choices, based on a number of factors.

Williams has a cousin that plays for Alabama, Auburn assistant coach Dameyune Craig is close with his family, and USC’s Tee Martin attended one of his practices last Fall.

One thing’s for sure, despite the decision now, it’s a long way until National Signing Day 2014.

Stallworth already has offers from Arkansas and Tennessee, and could add Alabama and Auburn to the mix soon.

Both programs have shown interest in the Panther lineman, but prefer to have him visit the respective campus’ first.
