The rich get richer, as Alabama picks up another commitment from a major prospect in the 2014 recruiting class.
Woodbridge Defensive End Da’Shawn Hand has officially committed to Alabama.
Florida and Michigan were finalists in his decision, but the nation’s second-best defensive lineman chose to go with the reigning National Champions.
Hand is regarded as the top recruit in the nation, according to Rivals, but ranks amongst the elite prospects throughout the other recruiting services as well.
His decision came down to the academics, which he plans to be an Engineering major, and being in the right system.
There were concerns about having to change positions if he committed to the Tide, as a standup linebacker, but that didn’t seem to factor into the final decision.
Florida seemed to be the obvious odd team out, due to the lackluster season and coaching issues with the current regime.
Michigan was actually the favorite coming into the announcement, seeing as it was closest to his home in Virginia.
In the end, Alabama has now picked up top commits on both sides of the ball from Cameron Robinson and now Da’Shawn Hand.
